How to win back past detailing customers
By Sean Atakhanian, founder of Detailer Flow · Updated October 28, 2026
Short answer
Text customers you haven't seen in a while. Start with a friendly check-in with no discount around week 5, then send an offer around week 10 — and only send the offer to people who reply. Your past customers already trust you, so they're the easiest jobs to book.
The two-step win-back
- 1.Week 5: a friendly check-in by text and email — no discount. Many customers simply forgot to rebook.
- 2.Week 10: an offer to come back. Ask them to reply YES first, then send the discount link, so you only discount people who are actually coming back.
Example texts
Hi {first name}, it's {business name}! It's been a few weeks since your last detail — want me to get you on the schedule?
Hi {first name}, we'd love to have you back. Reply YES and I'll send you a special offer for your next detail.
Other ways to bring customers back
- Offer ceramic coating to customers you've already detailed.
- Send holiday messages to stay top of mind.
- Offer maintenance plans for regular customers.
Only text people who opted in
Send marketing texts only to customers who agreed to receive them, and always let them opt out by replying STOP.
How Detailer Flow handles this
On Pro and Pro + AI, the Week 5 and Week 10 reactivation texts and the ceramic coating promo run automatically, so customers who are due hear from you without you tracking who's due. See plans →
